IN THE BEGINNING
Introducing Jack Roush, a visionary automotive expert and entrepreneur who ignited his career as an engine development engineer at Ford Motor Company in 1964. His fervor for drag racing took center stage in 1970 when he teamed up with Wayne Gapp, leading them to clinch numerous championships in AHRA, NHRA, and IHRA Pro Stock drag racing over the next five years.
In 1976, driven by a seamless blend of engineering prowess and entrepreneurial spirit, Roush established Roush Performance Engineering. Transforming his winning designs from the personal racing arena, Roush seamlessly ventured into the broader realm of motorsport. The relentless, solution-oriented approach of Roush sparked an overwhelming demand for his engines and components, catering to the diverse needs of drag racing, oval-track competitions, hill-climb events, and even the high-speed world of offshore power boats. Witness the legacy of innovation and performance that defines Roush Performance Engineering, where every creation embodies the winning spirit of a true automotive trailblazer.
CONTINUED SUCCESS ON AND OFF THE TRACK
In 1984, Jack Roush made a triumphant return to on-track competition, joining the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) road racing series. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of a remarkable journey for Roush Racing, securing an impressive tally of 24 national championships and titles, including 12 manufacturer's championships and an astounding 119 road racing victories.
A new chapter unfolded in 1988 when Roush ventured into the world of NASCAR racing, relocating his operations southward. From a modest single-car team based in Liberty, NC, with driver Mark Martin, Roush quickly earned acclaim for his prowess in driver development. His bold approach resulted in 13 drivers receiving NASCAR Rookie of the Year Awards and an impressive record of 19 different drivers claiming victories in his cars. The organization's multi-car efficiency model became a hallmark of success, with Roush drivers dominating the 2005 Monster Energy Cup season, comprising an unprecedented five out of the top ten "Chase for the Cup" teams. This followed consecutive series championship wins in 2003 and 2004.
Jack's legacy spans over 50 years, marked by an unwavering commitment to performance excellence in motorsports. His achievements include securing 31 championships and triumphing in over 400 races across drag racing, sports car, and stock car racing disciplines.
In a groundbreaking move in 2007, Roush Racing partnered with Fenway Sports Group to form Roush Fenway Racing, a revolutionary alliance between two iconic organizations. Then, in 2021, Brad Keselowski elevated his role in NASCAR by joining Roush Fenway Racing as both a driver and co-owner, taking the helm of the renowned No. 6 Ford Mustang in the NASCAR Cup Series (NCS). This strategic partnership led to the rebranding of the team to Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing (RFK), merging the legacies of three motorsport titans: Jack Roush, John Henry (of Fenway Sports Group), and Brad Keselowski. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the team's history, showcasing a fusion of talent and leadership from some of the most influential figures in the racing industry.
RFK Racing, a testament to his dedication and skill, has clinched eight championships in NASCAR's premier divisions, firmly establishing itself as a powerhouse in the sport. This illustrious record underscores RFK Racing's dominance and influence in NASCAR and motorsports at large.
Today, RFK Racing stands as a premier team in the world of motorsports. Jack Roush, now recognized as the winningest owner in NASCAR history and an American engineering icon, received induction into the Automotive Hall of Fame in 2017 and joined the esteemed 2019 class of the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
BEYOND THE TRACK
Remaining true to his engineering roots, Roush stands out for his significant contributions to technological advancements and safety measures. A pioneer in racing safety, he played a key role in the development of roof flaps—an innovation crucial in disrupting airflow, preventing stock cars from going airborne. Today, these roof flaps have become standard equipment for all NASCAR drivers, showcasing Roush's lasting impact on the sport.
Beyond the racing circuit, Roush's engine facilities play a vital role in powering numerous teams in both the Monster Energy Cup and Xfinity Series. The high-performance engines crafted by Roush are synonymous with horsepower and reliability, contributing to the success of teams beyond his own.
Off the track, Roush's entrepreneurial influence extends globally through Roush Enterprises, a visionary entity that serves as a leading supplier of automotive product development services. With facilities strategically positioned across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, Roush Enterprises collaborates with some of the world's most dynamic industries, including defense, entertainment, motorsports, and more.
